I don't know how smooth sorrowful or plantitive this is, 
but this is how these lyrics hit me.

Pretty staright forward, 145 bpm or 77.5 however you look at it. 
a simple three-chord progression: 
E (maj/min/something) D2 (usually) A2 (kinda 7) E.

Two mix tracks, one with metro, one without both start four measures in at 145. 
Also acoustic guitar and vox. Not the best, but I feel a good start.
